St Cuthbert's Catholic Church, Durham
Heritage Open Day: St Cuthbert's Catholic Church was completed in 1827 to a church perpendicular design by local architect Ignatius Bonomi, two years before the Roman Catholic Relief Act of 1829 restored most civil rights to Catholics. This places St Cuthbert's among the oldest Catholic churches in the country. The church tower and lady chapel were added in 1869 to Bonomi's design, and the church was finally consecrated in 1910.
