St Mary's Church, Gainford
Heritage Open Day: St Mary's Church, Gainford is a13th century Grade One listed Early English church on the site of a much older (800 ad) Saxon Monastery. Numerous Roman and Saxon remains from the earliest village have been incorporated into the present Church building. There is a NEW permanent display about the history of the Church and of the Anglo-Saxon stone carvings.
An expert led guided tour of the Church will take place on Saturday only at 14:00
