High Lighthouse

Heritage Open Day: Recently made available to the Harwich Society and in the process of being set up as a town museum, the High Lighthouse was built in 1818 to line up with the Low Lighthouse, now the Maritime Museum, 150 yards away. Together they operated as leading lights for shipping entering the estuary. It is a 90 ft high brick built Grade II* Listed building and was last used as a lighthouse in 1863.
