Rochdale Parish Church, St Chad's
Heritage Open Day: The Parish Church has stood on the hill overlooking the town for well over 1000 years. Built and rebuilt over the generations, it has stonework dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. Splendid stained-glass windows including Faith, Hope and Charity window by Edward Byrne-Jones. There is the 13th century font in which thirties film star Gracie Fields was baptised in 1898. Furniture and carving have connections with the Byron family, Lords of the Manor, until the poet Byron
