The Elms, Bedhampton

Heritage Open Day: The Elms is an important house in the village of Bedhampton, once described as 'the gem of Bedhampton'. During the latter half of the 18th century it was adapted to reflect the new 'strawberry gothic' style popularised by Horace Walpole. Today, the house is now divided into retirement flats administered by the Manor Trust. In the 1800s the house was owned by Sir John Theophilus Lee whose cousin was married to the sister of the Duke of Wellington. The
