Shrewsbury Unitarian Church & the Cabinet of Curiosities

Heritage Open Day: The church is on the site of the first dissenting congregation in Shrewsbury, formed after the Great Ejection of 1662. The young Charles Darwin worshipped here with his mother Susannah nee Wedgwood (of the Stoke pottery family). The poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge preached a sermon here in 1798 as candidate for the post of minister, as related by William Hazlitt in his essay My First Acquaintance with Poets.
