Heritage Open Day: As old as the town of Portishead, it was once an old tidal water mill with warehousing for grains and its own wharf. The archway at the front of the building was on the waterline so that milled grains could be floated out on small boats to the port and out onto the Severn. Many old photographs of early Portishead feature the mill as a prominent landmark. It was later converted to a pub called the White Lion and has now been remodeled into a modern pub and high quality restaura
