From Mongolia's arid plains to lush Miyama's Meiji Rebellion
Local author, Richard Frankland presents a glimpse of the development of Japanese culture through their religions, language, monarchy and government over a period of two thousand years. From the reign of Jimmo around 600 BC to the present day, the Imperial line has remained unbroken despite centuries of civil war, with more than two centuries of the brutally strict Edo period in which Japan developed most of its exquisite art and architecture.
