The Copper Family
For more than 400 years the Copper family have been based in and around the Sussex village of Rottingdean and for at least 200 of those years the family has been renowned locally as country singers. But in 1899 the family became known to a wider public when their songs were discovered and celebrated at the first general meeting of the Folk Song Society. James and Tom, key singers of the Copper family, were subsequently made honorary founding members for their contribution of songs.
