A lecture by Chloe Sayer on Rag-dolls to Robots: a World History of Toys. Many of the toys we know today were played with in ancient times. Now, as in the past, toys enable children to understand and interpret the environment around them while exploring their inner, imaginative worlds. Chloe Sayer is a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, the author of numerous books and has worked on a number of television documentaries for Channel 4 and the BBC. Lectures begin at 11.00am with coffee and tea from 10.15-10.45. Non-members are very welcome, no need to book (suggested donation £8).
