A Ceremony of Carols, by Benjamin Britten and other music for Advent
Riverside Young Singers and harpist Anne Denholm will be performing Britten’s 1942 piece A Ceremony of Carols. This unusual work in eleven movements written for treble voices and harp is written in Latin and Middle English, and passes through ancient plainsong, haunting melodies, plaintive solo voices and moments of Advent joy.
