The Late Brian Irving was a self taught artist who painted and exhibited from his 17th century Cottage Gallery in Skipton throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His somewhat unorthodox route to becoming a renowned watercolourist started with working on the family farm; then when married as a sheep farmer at Storiths, Bolton Abbey; and finally as a milkman in Ilkley. It was here he developed his love of painting, and drew on his extensive knowledge of Dales Life for subject matter. Its people, anim
