Learn to save a life at the market
St John Ambulance volunteers will be in Preston to raise money to buy new equipment that could help save lives. The first aiders will be on hand to teach shoppers how to do CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), a potentially life saving skill.
When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival falls by 10 per cent every minute without first aid. But, with CPR and the use of a defibrillator within three minutes, their chance of survival could be as high as 70 per cent.
