Plant hunting, eucalypti and me.
A talk by Tom Hart Dyke of Lullingstone Castle, Kent - World Garden of Plants. Tom, born in 1976 is heir to Lullingstone Castle in Kent and is the 20th generation of the Hart Dykes to live at the Castle. Tom Hart Dyke first shot to international prominence in 2000, when he was kidnapped in the Panamanian jungle on a plant hunting expedition that went dangerously wrong. Tom and his travelling companion were taken hostage while trekking through ‘The Darien Gap’, a dangerous place abandoned by all to warring guerrilla factions. They were held for nine months and released in time for Christmas 2000. The idea for the World Garden was born in the depths of despair in the Colombian jungle. A World Garden – containing the plants he’d collected from across the globe, planted out in their respective countries of origin. Organised by the Llechryd and District Gardening Club. £4 For further details tel 01239 612247 more

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"One of our homes had a Red Cross Open day recently and 30% of the visitors had seen the event listed on your site" - Wellburn.
"We used it to promote a one day open day and it turned out to be the most effective way of getting visitors; slightly over 1/3 rd came through your site, 1/3 from posters and flyers and rather less than 1/3 from the £1,000 of local press ads we paid for!." - The Midland Gliding Cub.
