The origins of the band go back to 1900 when the village of Elworth near Sandbach formed its own band to feature in the relief of Mafeking in the Boer War. After a couple of years the band was wound up, but from that base Edwin Foden formed the Fodens Motor Work Band. This February half term our holiday programme is offering over 30 activities and workshops to youngsters between the age of four and 16 years old. Some of the activities are FREE and take place in venues all around the Lancaster district. Set in the dramatic limestone scenery of the Dales the garden nestles into a steeply wooded hillside. Extensive drifts of the common single and double snowdrops are an impressive sight in the woodland setting. There are examples of over 50 other varieties. To thank all the audiences that have supported them over the years the world-famous Brodsky Quartet have put together a fantastic evening which guarantees a mix of music and entertainment.
