Come and lend a hand with the management of this wonderful raised bog, which is the focus of a major habitat improvement project. Work may include a range of practical tasks, including checking on livestock, surveying and maintaining paths and boundaries. The site is very wet, with little shelter, and wellies are essential. Conservation work party at Bowness-on-Solway Nature Reserve
Come and join the regular team of volunteers who carry out practical work on this nature reserve every Thursday. This is a fantastic nature reserve for amphibians, birds, butterflies and dragonflies. We will be working on some of the boardwalks, access and much more. Booking is essential. Please call Kevin Scott on 01228 829575. Please bring appropriate outdoor clothing and a packed lunch. more

One of the many Cumbrian Beacons to be lit on Jubilee Day will be at The Croft/Gosling Sike Farm at 10.00pm. Nature reserve staff will lead a bat walk. Organic refreshments and barbeque will be on sale. This will be a super community event, supported by Houghton C of E school, St Johns Church and Stanwix Rural Parish Council. more
