A Glimpse behind the Scenes
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, get a 15 – minute glimpse behind the scenes, and see some of the 65,000 artefacts from the collection not normally on show. See the beautiful library of 200-year-old books, come close to the manuscripts, and hear about the personal favourite artefacts of the Trust’s staff and interns. Small densely-planted garden approx 23yds x 49yds. Number of compartments incl wildlife pond, Japanese style border and gravel garden, shrub area, cottage garden borders, natural stream. Decking area. Decorative stone front garden. Favourite plant acers. A visitor said ’A small garden which appears to be much larger than it is!’ Given away lawn mower and gone for ’no.. more

Galesyke - Open Garden for NGS
Partially landscaped garden of several acres on banks of R Irt with views of Wasdale Fells, noted for its display of rhododendrons and azaleas. During the November 2009 floods the garden suffered some damage; the beds immediately adjacent to the river were completely washed away; and further downstream, several trees were lost. This damage will not have been made good in time for the garden.. more
