’2 Years 2 Wars’ by Douglas Farthing, War Artist
This exhibition was the culmination of two journeys recorded in travelling war diaries to Iraq and the North West frontier, on the Afghan and Pakistan border. Doug retired in 2007 after a full and eventful service with the Parachute Regiment, living out of a Bergen, carrying ammo, rations, water and a sketch book. Currently serving with the 3rd Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment, Lowestoft.. more

This February half term, Xtremetrampoline will once again be at The Octagon Shopping Centre providing two giant trampolines for children to have a bouncing good time. What’s more, following the success of previous years, 20% of all takings will go towards the YMCA. On Saturday 11th February, The Octagon Shopping Centre will be unveiling an ice sculpture, in celebration of Valentine’s Day and shoppers are invited to guess how long it will take to melt for the chance to win £250 worth of vouchers to spend in the centre. Half Price Open Practice and Toboggan Rides from 6pm onwards. Last entry 8.30pm. Must be Ski level 4+ or Snowboard level C+. Children must be 4yrs + to ride the toboggan, Children aged 4-7yrs must ride with an adult, 8yrs plus must ride alone. Toboggan booking advised for large groups. more
