Behind the Mask Exhibition by Chinwe Roy MBE at the Ipswich Art College Gallery
In Behind the Mask’, the renowned Royal Portrait artist Chinwe Roy MBE uses the notion of "disguise" to examine the methods and consequences of British Colonial Administrative rule, when Cross Rivers people were ostensibly “rescued” from their cultures on the one hand, whilst suffering from what today, might be considered as the horrific consequences of disagreement or rebellion. Issues that are very topical in the world today. As well as a substantial body of paintings Chinwe uses new materials like expanded polystyrene instead of traditional sculpture materials to re-engage the audience and participants on the immediacy of art, by removing barriers between them and the artists. The works are based on Sir Charles Partridge’s 1904 collection of artifacts & photographs from the region more
Free entry As well as the main exhibition Chinwe’s pictures and prints are available for sale.

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"Our family fun day this year was the best ever and a great deal of that success was from a mention on WhereCanWeGo.com. We will definitely be using it for all future events." - Lee Mill Community Association.
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
