Open Doors - Llangar Old Parish Church
Llangar is a rustic parish church, now remote, overlooking the beautiful Dee valley. This medieval church was remodelled in the early eighteenth century with furniture and fittings to reflect the then religious practices. It retains the remains of no fewer than eight schemes of wall painting, the earliest of which may date from the fourteenth century. The simple arrangement of the pews focusing on the pulpit rather than the alter, is more akin to a Nonconformist chapel than an Anglican church.
