Heritage Open Day: Come and look at our exhibition which is celebrating 1000 years of King Canute, Viking warrior and English king. The story of Canute and the Vikings in England and Scandinavia, eventually being ruled by Canute as the North Sea Empire. Knutsford has a long-standing local tradition that its name derives from King Canute fording a local river - legend and not fact but a legend that has had a considerable influence on the town.
