William Gilberd Days of Tudor Science - Tymperley's

Heritage Open Day: The building was the parlour and solar wing of a Tudor merchant's house, possibly built for Roger Tymperley circa 1490, and now known as Tymperley's. Interior with late 17th century staircase. The birthplace and 'head house' of William Gilberd (1544-1603). Gilberd studied at Cambridge and possibly in Italy before returning to England by 1573 to practice medicine in London. He was physician to Elizabeth I and James I, but much of his time was spent stud
