The Westgate
Heritage Open Day: England's largest surviving medieval gatehouse, built in 1380, to guard the road into Canterbury. It was the city's prison for 416 years, mainly used for thieves and debtors, with cells in its two drum towers. It has served as a museum since 1906. The battlements offer fine views over the city.
