Preston Railway Station

Heritage Open Day: Take a tour of this historic station. The first station on the site was built in 1838, and the current building dates from 1880. The large central platform was larger than any of the major London terminals at the time. By World War I there were 15 platforms, and in both wars a volunteer-run buffet in the current waiting room provided free refreshments for servicemen.
