Merchant Taylors' Girls' School

Heritage Open Day: The school building began in 1620, with funds provided by John Harrison's will. He left sufficient money for William Hunt, a quarryman to build what is now one of the oldest local buildings. It is Elizabethan in style and consists of two storeys reached by an internal stone staircase. Each stone has a mason's mark and the floor is stone slabs.
