The Church of St Agatha, Easby: History in the Present

Heritage Open Day: The present church was built before 1155 and the Abbey (now cared for by English Heritage) was built around it. The crowning glory is a rare series of wall paintings dating from 1250. There is a replica of the 7th century Easby Cross, the original being in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The church of St Agatha is a very popular wedding, funeral and baptism venue. BBC4 TV used St Agatha's during 2015 in a film about medieval births, deaths and marriages. Refre
