South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade Watch House - 150th anniversary
Heritage Open Day: This year South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its formation in 1866. This event will focus on the unique heritage of the Volunteer Life Brigade and increase accessibility to the collections in its historic Watch House on the South Pier in South Shields.
The Grade II listed Watch House building is of immense architectural and historical interest with its Watch Tower, wooden spiral staircase and adjoining Coast rescue equipment building.
