River Wear Commissioners Building

Heritage Open Day: The River Wear Commissioners Building was constructed in 1907 with no expense spared. Corrennie granite from Scotland, 5 types of marble, local Heworth Burn blue sandstone, splendidly carved oak and Cuban mahogany plus a glazed oculus are stunning features of Sunderland's finest Edwardian building. Guided tours available throughout the day at set times.
