Evening Lecture with Dr Simon Draper
Place-name scholars and archaeologists have not always seen eye to eye, yet the two disciplines have much to offer each another. This lecture will examine the relationship between place-names and archaeology in Gloucestershire with a special emphasis on aspects of the Anglo-Saxon landscape, including Roman-to-Saxon continuity, minster churches, royal and aristocratic dwellings and early kingdoms.
