Up until 1914 the poetry being written was usually the work of professionals expressing public spirit or references to past military glories. From the moment that war was inevitable the mood changed. This was the first war fought by civilians and the poets had to find the right language to express their inner feelings. Talk to be given by RICHARD FIELD.
