Bath Bach Choir - Venetian Vespers
For its autumn concert, Bath Bach Choir transports us back to 17th-century Venice to recreate a Vespers service as it might have been heard in St Mark’s Basilica. With radiant, lilting, Italian music composed by Monteverdi and his contemporaries (Rovetta, Legrenzi, Grandi), this imaginary Vespers consists of five psalms, three solo motets (by Monteverdi) and a seven-part Magnificat by Giovanni Rigatti to finish.
