Chelmer Canal Trust Evening Talk : Thames Sailing Barges
The Thames sailing barge was the commercial sailing boat common on the River Thames in London in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The flat-bottomed barges were perfectly adapted to the Thames Estuary, with its shallow waters and narrow rivers. John Rayment’s illustrated talk will tell us all about these beautiful vessels, their history, the restoration projects, and what the future holds.
