Castell Coch which translates from Welsh to English as the Red Castle is a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle high above the village of Tongwynlais, on the outskirts of Cardiff South Wales. It was built on the remains of a 13th-century castle in a strategic position with commanding views of both the narrow entrance to the Taff valley and the coastal plain.
