Tonbridge Decorative & Fine Arts Society Lecture: Captain James Cook and the Enlightment

To the far side of the world: Captain James Cook and The Enlightenment – Peter Warwick.
To coincide with the anniversary of the start of Captain James Cook’s final and fatal voyage in 1776, this lecture explores the impact of his three extraordinary voyages of discovery on European thought, art and science. Cook is widely renowned as an explorer, pioneering navigator and preventer of scurvy and his voyages provided unprecedented information about the Pacific Ocean, and about those who live
2.30 pm. All are welcome. Visitor fee £5.00. Talk followed by tea and biscuits.
