The Dog and the Elephant
Buried beneath the earth three paces east from the north facing wall of a church in a miners' village in Bristol there lies the body of an Elephant. When she died she stood 13ft tall.
It took me two days to dig the pit and four strong men to roll her to the edge and, after a nod from the fellow pallbearers, I was left to shovel earth onto her. Her name was Ina, she was my friend.
The Dog and the Elephant is the compelling story of Bare Knuckle Boxer Bendigo Barlow and his friendship
