Using Maps For Family History
Often overlooked, maps and their associated records are a valuable source of information to the researcher. Tithe, Inclosure, Ordnance Survey and Estate maps offer information on residence, occupation and status, painting a picture of a society at a particular time. Les Mitchinson explains to members of Buckinghamshire Family History Society how they may lead the researcher into other record sources such as Quarter Sessions, manorial records, title deeds and wills.
