Opening of the Workhouse History Centre: Victorian Weekend
The former Llanfyllin Union Workhouse, known as Y Dolydd, is one of the finest Victorian workhouses in Britain and the only one preserved and open to the public in Wales. A grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has enabled the creation of a History Centre with bilingual displays telling the story of the Workhouse and the Poor Law. This will be opened on the Saturday at 2.00 by historian and TV presenter Trevor Fishlock as part of a Victorian Weekend. Other attractions will include a Weekend Museu
