Wirksworth Heritage Centre

Wirksworth is a fascinating and quirky market town on the southern edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. Just a half hour’s drive from Derby, Wirksworth - with its intriguing stone buildings and intricate network of narrow lanes, yards and alleys - is a magnet for lovers of history and heritage.

Wirksworth’s award-winning Heritage Centre offers three floors of museum exhibitions and artefacts which bring to life the stories of this fascinating town and its people, illustrating Wirksworth’s long history, the town’s quirky, creative and nonconformist qualities, its traditional celebrations and famous characters.

Visit our shop and café with Indoor and outdoor courtyard seating is available (dogs are welcome in the courtyard). The centre is fully accessible for wheelchair users on all floors and is equipped with hearing loops. Assistance dogs are permitted throughout the building.

We also have a full list of activities and events, all year round.
Wirksworth Heritage Centre is open daily 9am to 5pm, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Last entry to museum 4pm. Websters Café is open 9am to 4.30pm.

(during Lockdown 2) Our 'Webster's Cafe' is open for take-away Tues-Fri 11-2pm & 5-7pm and Sat 10-2pm.
