The Blue Pool Nature Reserve & Tearooms, located near Wareham on the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, offers a great day out for visitors of all ages. Set across more than 30 acres, explore scenic paths and the UK’s longest rope bridge.
There's also an enchanting woodland trail to discover beautifully crafted doors and the magical creatures they belong to, along with an adventure play area for young explorers. The Art Deco Tearooms serve teas, coffees, cakes, light lunches and traditional afternoon tea. The site also includes a gift shop, Purbeck ice cream, and an outdoor plant centre.
Dating back to the 17th century, The Blue Pool was originally a clay mining pit. Over time, it filled with rainwater, and its distinctive colour—caused by light diffraction from clay particles—changes depending on the sunlight. Since opening to the public in 1935, it's become a well-known visitor attraction. The Nature Reserve is also designated as a SSSI due to its diverse plant and animal life.
