Society of Genealogists

There’s nothing more exciting for a family historian than to find a document belonging or relating to one of their ancestors. With our extensive and ever growing collections, many more people are making these discoveries. A lot of the documents are originals, very old and beautiful to look at. Records that might otherwise have been destroyed are now safely housed in our archives. They give us a tremendous insight into what life was like for our ancestors.

The Society of Genealogists is temporarily closed. We're setting up a new location in London. For the latest updates on our transformation and services, please see our News on our website at sog.org.uk/news/.

Our online courses and talks on Zoom continue, open to everyone. Plus we run many virtual tours so that anyone can visit places in London and across Britain. If you're interested in family history or social history, you're very welcome.
We are temporarily closed while we move to a new London location.
