Tolson Museum

World class collections paint a vivid and intriguing picture of the local area and people. You will find amazing objects charting Huddersfield’s history from earliest settlers to the boom in the textile industry and modern day collections from local people. Displays include historic vehicles, objects from the Luddite rebellion and the ‘Mines, Minerals and Monsters’ exhibition with beautiful minerals, ancient plant fossils and the remains of marine reptiles. Look out for ‘Our Fight for the Voting Right’ exhibiton opening from the 28 April.
Learn about the story of nearby Castle Hill and the growth of Huddersfield in the Ramsden Gallery. Hear the poignant story of the Tolson brothers, the profound effect the First World War had on the family, the town and the history of the museum itself.
