Dorking South
Street Caves Heritage Open Day
Dorking’s famous South Street Caves re-opened in 2015.
The caves date from the 17th century and were long used for storage of wine, although other rumours abound. Staircases, galleries and chambers lead down to the lowest chamber, known as the ‘Mystery Chamber’, 50 feet below street level. In addition to the group tours by appointment and the popular monthly Open Days, the Caves will be open for Heritage Open Days – see the Mole Valley Heritage Open Days site or brochure for details and book
