Trevor Pinnock is known worldwide as a harpsichordist and conductor who pioneered performance on historical instruments with The English Concert, the orchestra which he founded in 1972 and led for the next thirty years. He now divides his time between conducting, solo, chamber music and educational projects. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 1992 and an Officier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1998.
