A Pocketful of Hops
Heritage Open Day: Visit this exhibition and recall memories of the frantic month of September when locals were joined by hop pickers with tin trunks arriving by train, lorry and charabancs from the Black Country and South Wales. Gypsies set up their encampments in nearby fields. During the war years land army girls and prisoners of war all helped, and in the 1960s, students especially from the agricultural colleges.
