Lime trees and Holloways
Wenlock Edge is one of the areas of the Britain that is noted for the Large-leaved Lime. Many of these were planted by the monks of Wenlock Abbey and are wonderful old, mainly pollarded, specimens. Wenlock Edge also contains many ancient holloways along which people have travelled for centuries. Come along and join us to find out about the connection between these ancient holloways and the limes. Wear walking boots for the walk (total distance about 2 miles).
