Adrian Brooks: Travel Theatres
Celebrating the link between theatre, visual art and storytelling, these unusual wall-mounted theatres invite exploration. Travel Theatres utilise the familiar format of proscenium and stage, veiling and unveiling to present narratives. Simple puppet figures are used to explore complex themes as
diverse as colonialism and spirituality in a way that is both witty and moving. Occasionally Travel Theatres are larger floor standing structures akin to dolls’ houses,
incorporating four to six ‘stages’
