Plant Hunters and their Finds: WEA day school
In this day school Andrew Sankey will introduce some plant hunters and assess what difference their plant finds made to the English garden. You will hear about the men who forded rivers, faced danger and even death in an effort to bring back wondrous plants to Britain from the four corners of the world. They include:
Joseph Banks and Kew Botanic Gardens; David Douglas and conifers; William Lobb and South American shrubs; and Ernest Wilson and plants from China.
