The Many Ways Of Counting Our Days
A talk for family historians in which Colin Oakes will examine how our calendar developed from Republican Romes’, through Julius Caesar (the Julian calendar), Augustinian changes, Anglo-Saxon modifications and onto The Gregorian calendar. He will examine the great changes of 1751 and 1752 and the missing days and their ramifications for dates before 1752, ending with more modern changes and leap years, seconds and Atomic clocks.
