At any time of year the gardens are well worth a visit, though especially in spring when the internationally acclaimed rhododendron collection bursts into full bloom. There are exotic plants and shrubs, a walled garden and a woodland garden to be enjoyed by garden enthusiasts, families and children. Venture out into the country park and discover wildflower meadows where Highland cows graze, woodland trails and tumbling waterfalls. There is something for everyone. Dogs on leads welcome outside the walled garden. Directions: Brodick two miles. Buses from Brodick Pier to Castle. Regular sailings from Ardrossan and Claonaig (Argyll).
