Charity Garden Open Day: The Castle & Gardens of Mey
Originally a Z plan castle bought by the Queen Mother in 1952 and then restored and improved. The walled garden and the East Garden were also created by the Queen Mother. An animal centre has been established over the last three years and is proving very popular with all ages. New herbaceous border, east facing, nestled under the west wall contains agapanthus, phlox, pink aconitum, sidalcea, verbascum and knautia among others. Directions: On the A836 between Thurso and John O'Groats.
10:00am-5:00pm. Gardens only: £6.50, children £3.00, family £19.00
Castle & Gardens: £11.50, concessions £9.75, children £6.50, family £30.00. Proceeds to Maggie's, Queens Nurses, NTS Garden Fu
